The Full Story Cossoro, originating from the Arab word qash via the Latin castrum (castle). Via the Italian variation of Cassaro, it means a fortress, castle, and even the road to the castle. According to the Iberian variation Soccoro, it means help and relief. The long-standing name originates in the commercial and multicultural past of Zakynthos. Zakynthos, from antiquity, was on a trade path between the routes that connected the Mediterranean people. From Ancient Greece, when Zakynthos was a strategic partner of Naval Athens, to the Medieval Era, when Zakynthos was a stronghold between the capital of the Venetian Republic and the more remote region of their naval empire. Zakynthos has stood on the Mediterranean trade route, flourishing its culture & history, while establishing itself as a welcoming, cosmopolitan place that invites you to explore. Our premises are located at the upper Hill from where you can wander clearly the surrounding scenery, mountains, and let your eyes wander at the sea where you can see the island of Kefalonia, Roumeli(Central Greece), & Morias(Peloponnese) floating above the crystal blue colours of the Ionian sea.
